Senior Analyst, Primary Health Care Information Location: Toronto Range Minimum: $59,400 Reports to: Project Lead, Primary Health Care Information Job Summary The Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting the analysis and reporting of primary health care information across Canada. The person in this role will contribute to the full range of activities involved in PHC analysis and reporting, with a major emphasis on the analysis of administrative and survey data sources. Additionally, the person in this position will assist in idea generation, literature review, environmental scanning and developing analytical plans to support product development, writing, project tracking, and quality reviews. The Senior Analyst will also participate in the planning, development, and maintenance of client support products that ensure awareness and usage of PHC data. The Senior Analyst will liaise with external stakeholders and data providers as needed to define data and other reporting requirements and collaborate on report development/refinement in order to improve understanding of PHC performance across Canada. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Performs extensive quantitative analyses in collaboration with the PHC, Project Lead and other members of the PHCi team. Makes recommendations and implements action plans to address identified issues. 2. Assists in analysis to support linkage of PHC data with other CIHI data sets and those outside of CIHI. 3. Assists with the design and production of reports and other information products. 4. Contributes to all aspects of analytical and report development activities, including: research, literature reviews, developing analytical plans, analysis, quality checks, writing, synthesis and presentation of information 5. Develops and maintains a detailed knowledge of CIHI’s PHC indicators, analytical priorities, and reporting standards. 6. Contributes to the production of outputs that are useful to various target audiences and in compliance with CIHI’s quality and privacy standards. 7. In conjunction with the Primary Health Care Information team and other internal partners, provides assistance in developing, maintaining and enhancing relevant client support and analytical products. 8. Provides quality review of own and other team members’ work; oversees and mentors junior staff. 9. Develops and/or maintains up-to-date and comprehensive program area documentation, at both the project and program levels, as required. 10. Liaises as required with internal and external stakeholders. 11. Maintains current knowledge about quantitative and qualitative analytical research techniques relevant to Primary Health Care and CIHI as well as Primary Health Care topics and priorities, population health research, and policy initiatives from Canada and internationally, and appropriately disseminates information among the team. 12. Assists in building partnerships with key external stakeholders. Represents PHC/CIHI internally/externally as required, including participation on committees, presentations and/or attendance at conferences, preparation of articles for publication and other activities as required. 13. Assumes responsibility for other related duties, as required.

Platform:   

Required Skills:    • Master’s degree in statistics, epidemiology, health information sciences, social sciences or similar field or equivalent education/experience. • 3-5 years experience working with large data sets in an analytical environment with demonstrated excellence in reporting writing and editing of statistical and descriptive reports in health care. • Demonstrated advanced level SAS experience • Experience in analyzing survey data (e.g. CCHS) and manipulating large cross-sectional data sets and longitudinal data sets is important. • Ability to comprehend quantitative analytic documents and communicate findings accordingly, • Strong written communication skills and the ability to write for a number of audiences as well as excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. • Experience working with a wide variety of clients in order to increase and support participation in initiatives. • Good conceptual knowledge of health and its broad determinants, of the measurement of health status and the Canadian health system. • Project management skills and experience. • Ability to communicate in both official languages would be an asset.
