Job Description:

Virginia Tech seeks an experienced professional for the position of Research Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. Job responsibilities will include: conduct operational management analyses; employ decision support and business modeling tools; assist in the maintenance of large databases; assist in the compilation and submission of reports to state and federal agencies by established deadlines; use broad-based knowledge of higher education literature, research methods, and statistical techniques to develop and implement appropriate statistical/simulation models to support high-level campus decision makers with clear, relevant, and accurate information; and will provide interpretation of analysis results and communicate the implications of those results to decision-makers and information providers on campus.

Required Skills:

Minimum Qualifications: master's degree in statistics or related field; knowledge of linear and logistic regression-based modeling techniques; extensive experience with statistical software such as SAS; knowledge of research methods; experience in accessing data from multiple sources to perform analyses and produce comprehensive reports; expertise with Microsoft Excel.

Desired Skills:

Preferred Qualifications: PhD in statistics or related field; broad-based knowledge of higher education issues; knowledge of IPEDS data collections; experience working with faculty data and faculty activity reporting systems; experience in conducting longitudinal analyses; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; ability to maintain composure and good disposition in a deadline-driven, high-change environment.
